Residential Terms and Conditions

To make things simple, here are the main points of your agreement.

Key Information About Your Installation

  • We will install your system in accordance with the agreed design and schedule. If delays occur due to weather, supply chain issues or electricity network approvals we will keep you informed and agree a revised date.
  • In most cases solar installations are permitted development. If planning permission or other approvals are required, we will guide you through the process where helpful.
  • Export payments under the Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) require a compatible smart meter supplied by your electricity provider. We can advise on the process, but your supplier manages smart meter installation and SEG registration.
  • We may provide guidance on electricity tariffs that could help optimise system savings. Final tariff selection and switching remains the customer’s responsibility.
  • A deposit may be required to confirm your order. Final payment is due upon completion of the installation and before commissioning and certification are released.
  • Equipment supplied with your system is covered by manufacturer warranties. Stratford Energy Solutions also provides a workmanship warranty covering installation.
  • Energy generation and savings estimates are based on recognized modelling software and industry assumptions. They are indicative and cannot be guaranteed.

Residential Terms & Conditions (2026)

Our Commitment

We will carry out the work with reasonable care and skill in accordance with the agreed quotation and installation schedule. The quotation is valid for 45 days unless otherwise stated. Nothing in this agreement affects your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Cooling Off Period

Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 you have the right to cancel this contract within 14 days of signing. If installation or equipment ordering begins during this period, reasonable costs for goods ordered or work completed may be payable if the contract is later cancelled.

Customer Responsibilities

You are responsible for obtaining any required planning permission, building control approval or third‑party permissions unless we have agreed in writing to obtain these on your behalf. We can and will advise where helpful. You must provide safe access to the installation area and ensure the property structure is suitable for installation.

System Operation and External Factors

Solar, battery and EV charging systems interact with electricity networks, energy suppliers and internet-based monitoring platforms. System performance may be affected by factors outside our control including DNO approvals, export limits, tariff structures and internet connectivity.

Smart Meter & Export

A compatible smart meter is required to receive Smart Export Guarantee payments. Customers are responsible for arranging smart meter installation with their electricity supplier.

Payment Terms

A deposit of up to 25% may be required to confirm your order. Final payment is due on completion of installation and before commissioning and certification are released.

Changes and Unexpected Work

If you request changes to the agreed installation, we will confirm feasibility and any cost implications. If unforeseen work becomes necessary we will discuss this with you before proceeding.

Warranties

Equipment supplied as part of your system is covered by manufacturer warranties, which vary by product and manufacturer. These warranties cover the repair or replacement of faulty equipment in accordance with the manufacturer’s terms.

Stratford Energy Solutions Ltd provides a 5-year workmanship warranty covering the quality of the installation of solar, battery and EV charging systems.

The workmanship warranty covers defects arising from installation workmanship. It does not cover equipment faults, normal wear and tear, damage caused by third parties, environmental factors, or changes to the property after installation.

Where equipment faults occur, Stratford Energy Solutions Ltd will assist customers in facilitating manufacturer warranty claims where required. Repair or replacement of equipment will be carried out in accordance with the manufacturer’s warranty terms.

System Software, Monitoring and Optimization

Many modern solar and battery systems use manufacturer software platforms and cloud-based monitoring services to optimise system performance, charging behaviour and energy usage. These platforms are developed and controlled by the equipment manufacturers and may be updated or modified from time to time without notice.

While Stratford Energy Solutions Ltd will assist customers with initial system configuration and provide guidance where helpful, the operation of manufacturer software, algorithms and optimisation features remains the responsibility of the equipment manufacturer.

Changes to software, firmware updates, tariff integrations or optimisation behaviour may affect how the system operates and may influence energy savings or battery performance.

Stratford Energy Solutions Ltd is not responsible for changes made by manufacturers to system software, monitoring platforms or optimisation algorithms.

Adjustments to system settings requested by the customer after commissioning may be subject to service or support charges unless covered by a Stratford Energy Solutions Ltd service agreement.

Loss of electricity generation, export income or energy savings during equipment repair or warranty replacement periods is not covered.

Stratford Energy Solutions Ltd may apply reasonable call-out or diagnostic charges outside the workmanship warranty period where the issue relates to equipment faults rather than installation workmanship.

This warranty does not affect your statutory rights under UK consumer law.

Performance Estimates

Energy generation and savings estimates are based on recognised modelling software and are indicative only.

Limitation of Liability

Subject to applicable law, Stratford Energy Solutions Ltd’s total liability shall not exceed the contract value. We are not responsible for losses resulting from tariff changes, electricity network restrictions, differences between estimated and actual energy savings, or loss of generation during equipment warranty or repair periods.

Data Protection

Personal data will be processed in accordance with UK GDPR and may be shared where necessary with DNOs, certification bodies and equipment manufacturers.

Dispute Resolution

If a dispute arises we will attempt to resolve it directly with you. If unresolved the matter may be referred to the Renewable Energy Consumer Code (RECC).
